Breastfeeding Must Haves…

1

In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, we thought we’d put together a few of our favorite breastfeeding “Must Haves”.

                                                                                         Lanolin

It Hurts, this helps…Enough Said!

Nursing Cover

If you ever want to leave the house and you breastfeed, you’re gonna want one of these.  Unless you prefer to just go all boobs out, which in that case more power to you!

Nursing Pads

NursingPads

Let me tell you from experience, walking down Church Street, holding a car seat in one hand and trying to casually conceal your heavily leaky breast with the other is not my definition of a good time.  Invest in some good nursing pads, wool, disposable or those gel ones that you can put in the freezer…let’s all say ahhhhh.

Nursing Bra

Try nursing a baby with a regular bra.  Just try it!  You will soon realize that little snap on the strap is one of the best inventions on earth.  Invest in a good one (or several) because you’re going to be wearing that thing all the time and for a long time.  The good news is you don’t have to stop dressing up your “ladies” just because you’re nursing.  There are so many different styles and fabrics available, you’re sure to find something you’ll love.  And if you’ve just had that baby and your breasts are now at unbelievable proportions stop by Aristelle on Church street and ask for Andrea.  She has a wonderful and beautiful selection of nursing bras.

Breast Pump

Our personal choice would be a double electric model.  You can pump at any speed you like, however, be forewarned the faster you want to go the more powerful the suction on your nipple.  I learned this the hard way.  My first time pumping…ever…I turned it up a bit too high and my nipples were quickly pulled into an unbelievable length.  I couldn’t turn that thing off fast enough.  All that said, run out and invest in a good one.  They cost a little more than a manual but it’s worth it!

Hands Free Pumping Bra

If you ever have to pump, you will be so very thankful  to feel a little less like a cow being milked if you have one of these babies.  Read a book, close your eyes, drink your coffee, or just have your hands free instead of accidentally slipping your grip and spilling milk.  As you will soon learn, you can most certainly cry over spilled milk.

Do any of these picks fall on your nursing “must haves” list?  Happy Breast Feeding Everyone!
