The Definitive Ranking of the Hottest Bridgerton Books

0

Moms love Bridgerton. It’s true. We all know it. We’ve all seen season 1, episode 6 of the Shondaland Netflix series and it was HOT! But, I’m not just talking about the show here. The books are fire, too. So, let’s talk about the hottest Bridgerton books!

If you need a little background on the book series, here we go… The Bridgerton series was written by Julia Quinn. The genre is Regency Romance. Regency Romance refers to romance novels set in the Regency period in high British society (1811-1820.) Each of the Bridgerton books was written between 2000 and 2006. There are eight books, one following each of the eight children in the Bridgerton family (with a bonus book published in 2013 offering a second epilogue to each book.) There’s also a spinoff book series that follows young Violet (the Bridger-mom) and a new book that tells Queen Charlotte’s story. For this post, we’re only focusing on the original eight books.

Claire and I were guests on The Bridgerton Bros podcast discussing the differences between the books and the show. (If you want to give the episode a listen, head here.) On the episode, the topic of the hottest Bridgerton Books came up, so we decided to do an official ranking… and here we are!

The definitive ranking of the hottest Bridgerton books (starting with the most tame and leading to the sauciest!)

8. Romancing Mr. Bridgerton

The fourth in the Bridgerton series follows Colin, the third Bridgerton son. It’s also the source material for the upcoming season three of the series, which is coming out on May 16, 2024. The plot of this one is suspenseful as they hunt to find out who Lady Whistledown is! The book has only 1.5 steamy scenes, in total. Not too steamy.

7. It’s in His Kiss

This book follows Hyacinth, the youngest Bridgerton sibling. It’s the final book in the series. Like the previous book mentioned, this one is a lot more about a hunt (this time for jewels) than it is about being steamy. If I remember correctly, there are about 1.5 steamy scenes in this one.

6. On the Way to the Wedding

This book follows Gregory, the seventh child in the Bridgerton fam and youngest son. Like the previous two books, this one isn’t quite as steamy. We get a solid 1.5 steamy scenes.

5. To Sir Phillip with Love

To Sir Phillip, With Love follows the second Bridgerton daughter, Eloise. In this book, she’s quite old for a first-time wife in the Regency Era (at a whopping 27). If I’m recalling correctly, there are about 1.5 steamy scenes but also a bit of a montage of Eloise thinking of all of her encounters with Sir Phillip (where we find out that Sir Phillip likes to go downtown… if you know what I mean.)

4. An Offer from a Gentleman

This is book three in the series and follows the second son, Benedict. Unlike in the show, book Benedict does not love sex parties. In the book, he actually leaves one, annoyed. This book has a hot scene where Benedict is caught skinny dipping and then two additional steamy scenes.

3. The Duke & I

This is the book most are familiar with as it was the primary source material for the first season of the Bridgerton show. This one follows the oldest daughter, Daphne, and is the first book in the series. In this book, you get 3 solid steamy scenes, though, if you saw the show, you know that one of those scenes is not exactly consensual, which makes it much less exciting.

2. The Viscount Who Loved Me

This is book #2 in the series and follows the oldest brother (and Viscount Bridgerton), Anthony. It was also the source material for season two of the series. I have to admit, I’m an Anthony fan (in the books and the show.) This book has about 3 full-on steamy scenes and a lot of reference to Anthony’s love of boobs. So, there’s that.

1. When He Was Wicked

I mean the title says it all. This one is wicked. This is book six in the series and follows Francesca, the 3rd daughter in the Bridgerton family. The first 1/3 or so of the book is rather tame… then you hit about 1/3 of the way into the book and it’s basically nothing but sex until the end.
