With three boys in the house, we go through a lot of peanut butter around here.
A LOT.
I can buy the cheap peanut butter in a huge tub and it would last forever. Like literally, there is so much “stuff” added to it that it would last forever. I’d rather buy the all natural peanut butter to avoid the nasty oils in the cheap stuff but the organic all natural pb is, well, not cheap. So I tried making my own! It’s super easy, cost efficient and so much better for you! You can basically use any kind of nut and play around with the amount of oil you use to achieve the consistency you prefer.
All Natural, Homemade Peanut Butter
Ingredients:
4 cups dry roasted peanuts (I bought organic nuts with no salt)
1 tbs + 1 tsp Safflower Oil (or another mild flavored oil)
Honey to taste if preferred
This is literally a one step recipe! Put it all in a food processor in stages and process until you reach the desired consistency! You can make it super chunky or nice and smooth! Add a touch of honey if you prefer to sweeten it a bit.
I saved a glass jar from an old jar of peanut butter and just used it for my homemade pb! Refrigerate the peanut butter and stir a bit before using as the oils naturally settle on top.
Enjoy!
ha ha, no worries since all the ingredients are long lasting ones I think we will be fine 🙂
Nice! I have always been afraid to try this for some reason. Sounds easy enough.
thanks for sharing, I love how easy it is. I just made some yesterday. Can you tell me how long it will last in the fridge?
You know, that’s a good question! We always eat it too fast for me to see!
