Kathy’s Mommy Makeover

Last weekend our Mommy Makeover winner had a complete and total day of pampering from some incredible local businesses.  We caught up with Kathy to find out how her day went.

Her friends call her the queen of shopping and party planning.  She grew up in Southern Vermont and after attending Champlain College she knew that the Burlington area would be her home forever.   She and her husband live in Colchester with their 10 year old daughter Hannah.  She’s also mom to a Golden Retriever named Rosie and two cats Polar & Charlie.

Kathy works part-time for Vermont Housing Finance Agency in Burlington.  When she’s not working she’s very involved at Mater Christi School as a former PTO President and currently a 5^th grade room mom.

Kathy’s day started at Mini Spa VT on Battery Street. Beth Estey, greeted her at the door, had her fill out a quick survey, and then whisked Kathy away for her facial.

Kristin was the technician that worked on Kathy.  She said that Kathy’s skin condition was pretty good.  She just needed some additional exfoliation and moisture.  Kristin gave Kathy the SOS facial which entails a double cleanse, exfoliation, and a mask with serums specific to her skin’s needs.  She also gave Kathy some massage love to her arms, hands, shoulders, and face.  They ended the facial with some BB Cream for sun protection and lip balm.

Kathy thought the facial was amazing!  The massage and the facial steam, the very thing she needed as a break from the long winter weather.

Next on tap was a manicure with Sheryl.  The almond sugar scrub Sheryl used on Kathy’s hands “left her craving macaroons”.  The paraffin wax dip on her hands left them feeling like silk. Kathy decided to do a simple French manicure with a shimmer top coat.

Kathy left Mini Spa VT for Church Street where she stopped at Whim, a really cute cutting edge store. With the help of their wonderful sales staff she found an adorable bracelet.

Lunch time!  Kathy had never been to Boloco…can you believe it?  After perusing the vast amount of choices on the menu she chose a traditional burrito with white meat chicken. Delicious!

Nicole took care of Kathy at Indigo.  Nicole said that after consulting with Kathy they decided to make her hair color much lighter overall and update her haircut by making it shorter in the back and longer in the front.  She did a full foil highlight to really brighten up her hair color.  Then gave Kathy an angled bob hairstyle and side bangs to bring the look together.

About half way through the highlight Kathleen from North Photography arrived to take pictures of her transformation.

Here are a couple of thoughts from Kathy about her experience.  “After my color we got back to Nicole’s station for my cut.  She had an iPad out with lots of pictures of styles for me to choose from. Being kind of a techno geek I was excited to see the iPad and quickly picked out a picture of a stacked bob.  Nicole did a GREAT job with my cut!  Kathleen was snapping pictures through the process. I got lots of looks like who is that woman?  My own paparazzi!”

Hannah was in charge of makeup and after taking a quick assessment of Kathy’s skin, she applied a light cream to powder foundation to even out skin tone.  Then Hannah used an earth tone palette to bring out Kathy’s blue eyes and finished the look with a natural lip color and a touch a gloss to add some shine.

Following the makeover Kathleen, with North Photography, did a photo shoot with Kathy to show off the finished product.  Kathleen had a great time following Kathy around, watching everything unfold, and being able to capture it all on film.

“You look awesome was the reaction I got when I meet my husband and daughter at the Skinny Pancake for dinner after my makeover day!  My husband Ed, loved my hair and my daughter Hannah was surprised by my makeup.  We ordered our dinner, I had a crepe with ham and cheddar cheese and a side of cranberry chutney and it was delicious! We topped off our dinner with chocolate fondue.”

“A million thank you’s to BVTMB for this amazing makeover day!  I’m now the envy of all my friends.”
