Introducing Kathleen! BVTMB Photographer

9

Once upon a time I daydreamed about a cute old farmhouse, a charming gentleman, and a beautiful life. Before I knew it that daydream became reality and here I am! Drafty old farmhouse and all. And although my life is not perfect (because whose is, really?) it is perfect for me and I love nearly every moment of it. 🙂

My name is Kathleen and I am the owner and lead photographer of North Photography LLC and your resident photographer here on the BurlingtonVT Moms Blog. Becoming a part of this awesome team of women started with a family portrait inquiry by Nissa (wait till you see her cute family!) which lead to a conversation and eventually a wonderful relationship was formed! To say that I am excited to be a part of this group would be an understatement. It’s fabulous!

Back when I was but a young sassy thing, I loved being in front of the camera. My father was a professional photographer and I knew how to pose and smile like a champ! I did not have a particular interest in becoming a photographer, rather I wanted to be a race car driver, veterinarian, or humanitarian. My motivation was to get out of Vermont and move someplace with a warm climate! Fast forward almost two dozen years and here I am six years into owning and running my own photography business. 🙂 When did my goals change? I don’t remember exactly, but my father saw a talent hidden within me and gently encouraged me to pursue it. I’m really glad he did. 🙂

When I am not glued to my desk (being a business gal) or out and about (being a photographer), I am found next to my best friend. Devin and I were married in 2009 after having met in college and dated long enough that I was getting antsy for something with some shimmer! (*sparkle sparkle*) 🙂 He truly is my compliment. I’ll spare you the rest of the mush and gush, but suffice to say, we work pretty well together. 🙂 Add in our lab mix Cora and our black cat Leisl and we are a happy little family!

The biggest cliché I hear when I ask my clients what they do in the free time is, “What free time? Ha!”. Yes, I get it, life is SO busy! But time moves quickly, so Devin and I MAKE free time! It’s really hard sometimes and we don’t even have human children yet! In the free time we get, we enjoy getting outside to enjoy the beauty of Vermont (yes, I decided Vermont was where I was meant to be…I just wear more sweaters!). Hiking, canoeing, walking, sitting…fresh air is the best thing ever! Other interests of mine include knitting, reading, Zumba, and cooking (healthy or not so much).

Top of Mount Mainsfield this summer. Cora is enjoying the view. 🙂

For the most part my posts as a contributing writer here on BVTMB will consist of photography-related topics. Please feel free to leave any questions you might have regarding photography in the comments section and I will get back to you with the best possible answer I know or can find. 🙂 I certainly do not know everything, but am usually able to find a good answer! If you have a topic that you would like me to discuss, you can either e-mail me at [email protected] or leave a comment below.

I look forward to getting to know the BVTMB readership more in the future! I think we’re going to have a great time. 🙂 Be Well and Smile Often, Kathleen

  1. I always knew that Vermont was a special place but reading the blogs from you and the other contributors I am reminded once again of that fact. Whenever my family as in sisters and brothers get together we do a 6 person photo. It is a snap shot in time of our family. Needless to say I love photos. Anxious to hear more from you.

  2. Kathleen, I love the first photo of you and your husband, so pretty. You take beautiful pictures, thanks for doing the BVTMB shoot.
