I had a day off in the middle of the week – sounds relaxing, right? Days off used to mean sleeping in, watching horrible daytime tv, and wearing my pajamas all day. Not the case once you have kids.
I woke up at 6:30 am with the boys and we had our normal routine: milk, get them dressed, breakfast, and off with daddy to go to school. I put a turkey in the oven and worked on my Forensic Science project from 8 am until 12:30 pm. DONE!!!
After a quick shower I drove over to Marjie’s for my massage. While my husband had been massaged there before, I hadn’t and I was excited for some down time. When I walked into the massage room there was lovely music playing and Marjie asked me many questions so she could figure out how best to use our time together. As a mother of twins, I asked for DEEP tissue – my neck and back are wrecked from doing stuff with the kids.
I’ve had a LOT of bad massages – when you are thinking you can’t wait for it to be over because it’s so weird or there isn’t enough pressure or the massage therapist talks to you the whole time. That was not the case here. Marjie dug right in and was constantly checking in to see how the pressure was. I was able to relax completely – which was self evident by the amount of drool I left behind. The hour went by quickly and was the the perfect end to a crazy day and I recommend her a thousand times over! My new plan is to try to get a massage at least once a month because we all need to do something wonderful for ourselves – to revitalize us.
I know you are wondering who is Marjie and how do I get in touch with her?!? Marjie Sheppard graduated from the Atlanta School of Massage in Atlanta Georgia in 1991. It is an accredited program that’s recognized by the American Massage Therapy Association. She has been doing this for over 20 year folks – that must be why she’s so good at her craft!
Marjie specializes in deep tissue massage and each massage is tailored to the specific needs of each client. She also does Swedish and Hot Stone massage as well as Therapeutic Touch (an energy based massage).
She can be reached at her office in Essex Junction (802) 872-8467 and can also be found on Wednesdays at The Sporty Look Salon at Twin Oaks in South Burlington at (802) 658-2674.
By the way, Marjie will be giving away a gift certificate for a FREE massage at Mom’s Night Out on October 28th – I wouldn’t pass this up! You can buy your tickets here.
Yes a massage is the perfect getaway for an hour or two! Nothing better to calm your nerves and relax you! Its important to find the right therapist to suit your kneads …right! I know you are happy you found one! 🙂
