Bonding With Your Baby While Pregnant: Review of “Before Birth Bonding”

6

Confession time: I’m not one of those mommas that feels immediately connected to her baby upon finding out she is pregnant.

I’m excited, for sure, but I don’t experience that strong sense of connection that some other moms have expressed to me. It takes me awhile to really feel bonded, and I’ve found that with both my pregnancies that typically come around the time when I find out the baby’s sex. My husband and I have decided on baby names before finding out the sex in both of our pregnancies, so we are able to start calling the baby by their name as soon as we find out if it is a little boy or girl. THIS is when I really begin to feel connected; to feel bonded to my little one.

With my last pregnancy I got to receive this exciting news at my 20 week ultrasound, but this time around I was able to find out at 16 weeks thanks to Before Birth Bonding with a 3D ultrasound. We found out we are having a….[typography font=”Delius Swash Caps” size=”14″ size_format=”px” color=”#cc2fc2″]GIRL!![/typography] We are so excited to add another little girl to our family and we cannot wait to meet Miss Maggie Grace!

Not only did I have a chance to discover the sex of our little babe, but I was able to experience a connection with this baby that I did not have during my first pregnancy. The 3D ultrasound was an amazing experience and I could not get over how bonded I felt with this little one as I watched her move about in my womb. I was able to see her features, her body movements, and her expressions (she liked to smile for us). I feel as if I know a bit of Maggie already as I was able to peek inside my womb and visit her inside her temporary home as she is continuing to be formed into the beautiful baby that we will hold months from now, and that is a priceless gift.

Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the ultrasound experience itself, but it was made even more pleasant by Hollie, the owner and operator of Before Birth Bonding. She brought a great air of excitement to the room and seemed to take genuine pleasure in discovering my little Maggie right along side of us. She helped me decipher some of the images (it can be a little hard at time to figure out what exactly you are looking at!) and delighted in Maggie’s “diva” poses (yes, she already knows how to pose for the camera).

  1. Bonding for me did start during pregnancy. Not completely naturally, though, but somewhat intentionally. I was very ill during my pregnancy with my son, but we began the bonding process by regularly reading a week-by-week development book. It is truly amazing to track the miracle that is taking place. It really made a difference for me even after birth. Now, there are a lot of great books and blogs out there to serve this purpose, but the one I’m reading now blows all the others away, and it’s great for every pregnancy, not just the first. Not only does it have even more development details than usual, and personalized, it has a section in it where you can journal or write letters to baby. It’s called “The Wonder Within You: celebrating your baby’s journey from conception to birth” by Carey Wickersham. It’s an awesome combination of week-to-week information, what’s going on with the baby, “Did you know?” plus health advice about what to eat, cravings, nutrition, etc, BUT also with awesome 3D/4D pictures and videos you can link or QR with your phone to and see what your baby looks like at each week stage. I’ve just not seen anything exactly like it! It’s got famous quotes and real mom stories, too. The pregnancy information is as up-to-date as it gets and it’s such a great keepsake. I want to get one for everybody I know who is expecting! I highly recommend it!

  2. Nissa! Thanks for sharing the pictures, it’s so exciting to see her! What amazing clarity, the pictures look like they were taken from inside, haha. Can’t wait to see the baby!
