Why We Made this Selection and Background Knowledge
Julie: I literally cannot remember how we picked this?!? But I do love British crime dramas.
Claire: Like most of our previous episodes, I had no background knowledge. I’ve been rather enjoying going into these blind.
Before you say which you liked better, did you read the book or listen to the audiobook… because it matters.
Julie: Audiobook
Claire: Audiobook
Overall Opinion of the Book
Julie: Overall, I liked it. There were some twists that surprised me. The subject matter and conflicts were timely. It left me feeling really conflicted about Sophie.
Claire: I enjoyed the book. The beginning was a little slow for me, but it got better as I went along. There were also times I my jaw dropped in shock at things I wasn’t expecting and I love when a book can do that to me.
Overall Opinion of the Show
Julie: Love the cinematography vibe. It felt like a bit of a stretch to try to make every episode end with a dramatic flourish. Overall I liked it. It was entertaining.
Claire: I loved the show! I loved how some parts that were at the middle or end of the book we saw at the beginning of the show. And I really loved when Sophie met Kate/Holly at the end of the last episode and said, “Her Majesty’s government is about to implode.”
Which was better, the Book or the Movie?
