Five Time-Saving Beauty Products Worth the Splurge

Before I became a mom, I distinctly remember judging other moms for unwashed hair, unshaved legs, and dirty clothes. I actually thought those moms and dads used having kids as an excuse to stop showering. I swore that would not be me. But it totally is. What a jerk I was. The luxury of pampering takes the back burner once you add a kid to the mix. But despite the fact that I embrace my dirty hair, I still miss the days of feeling polished and put together.

Nothing like a hat day to cover up unwashed hair.

Below are the beauty products I’ve discovered in the past 24 months of parenthood that have helped me feel presentable even on the roughest of mom-days.

Beauty Products
My go-to time-saving products.

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt – I have recommended this product to so many friends. It’s been a game changer for my hair! The price tag is steep, but it really does last a long time. This hair cleanser helps to balance your scalp and remove product buildup so your hair gets super clean. I use a quarter size dollop for my medium length hair about once a week or so and can go up to four days without another wash. My hair is bouncy and full, plus it smells great.

Revlon Oval One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler – There’s nothing like trying to blow out your own hair that makes you realize how weak your shoulder muscles are. Not to mention I sweat off half my makeup before I can even finish my hair. It takes forever to get a good at-home blowout, but even when I came across this product I was a skeptic. It just seemed too obvious! Let me tell you, I used this once and I was hooked. It took me 10 minutes to do a full blow out. (Tip: Let your hair air dry while you do your make-up and it speeds up the process even more!).

Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1 – To help extend my style between blowouts I stumbled upon a sample of this product and loved it. I ordered a full size right away and my greasy roots don’t stand a chance. Unlike most dry shampoos, this one doesn’t leave a white cast, so I don’t have to worry about adding to my gray count. It adds a bit of texture to volumize and one application in the morning lasts all day.

Benefit Gimme Brow – I’ve mentioned this product in the past, but it’s worth repeating. If you’re like me, you spent the nineties listening to boy bands, hanging beaded curtains, and over-plucking your brows. This product naturally fills in my brows and gives them some volume in just a few quick swipes. I’ve tried some drugstore dupes, but none have held up like Gimme Brow.

EltaMD UV Daily Tinted Sunscreen – Here’s another product I’ve mentioned in the past. When it comes to skincare, I’m game to splurge. And this product is a three-in-one doozy. Sunscreen, moisturizer, and foundation all in one. Check. Check. Check. Talk about a time saver. This is the ultimate trifecta for beauty products. A little goes a long way, so at almost $30 you get a lot for your money. (Tip: use Ebates to save a bit more!)

If you’re looking for some time savers when you’re trying to get out the door or just trying to remember what it was like to have clean hair, try some of these out! Beauty products and routines may seem frivolous, but in the life of a mom, sometimes it’s the little things that count. When we look good, we feel good, and that’s worth an extra five minutes a day.
