Editor's Note: Isn't it tedious how alcohol and motherhood have become so enmeshed in popular culture? The coy and stale references to "wine o'clock" and "mommy juice" aren't helpful or healthy for anyone. If parenting is hard, a drink certainly doesn't make it easier. Parents don't need a cocktail, we need affordable health insurance that includes the "optional" body parts- eyes, ears, and teeth. We need affordable and safe childcare. We need flexible working hours and livable wages. We need safe schools. Personally, I believe that whatever you can enjoy in moderation and without hurting others is entirely your choice; professionally, I want content that supports all families in all stages of parenthood. -Jemima
