Maple Syrup- Where to Find a Taste of Vermont

0

Maple syrup and Vermont go together like a match made in heaven.

My family loves maple syrup. We visit at least one sugarhouse every spring. It’s a Vermont tradition! However, you don’t need to stop at syrup. There are plenty of other delicious maple-flavored treats to put a smile on your face. Try something new at one of my favorite places.

Ferrisburg

Visit the sugarhouse to see sap boiling or watch a video about the history of maple syrup. While there, visit the store to stock up on syrup and other products, such as maple sausage and maple cream. If someone doesn’t like maple, check out their other local products, such as cheese.

Green Mountain Sugar House

Ludlow

If you visit during the early spring, you can take a tour to watch the sap boiling in the sugarhouse. At the other times of the year, you can stock up on maple syrup or other treats, such as maple candy or maple nut brittle. There are also plenty of other options, such as smoked meats and cheese.

There are so many different maple products here! My kids are big fans of the maple kettle corn. I like to buy their maple-themed gift baskets to give as Vermont-themed gifts. If you visit on a March weekend, you can snag some old-fashioned sugar on snow.

Jericho

Palmer’s has delicious maple creemees. To add pizzazz, you can even get them with maple sprinkles. While you’re getting creemees, you can also stock up on a wide range of other goodies, such as maple candy or maple sugar. Look for their creemee truck at special events!

Palmer’s Sugarhouse

Shelburne

Visit in March and early April to enjoy maple goodies served from a barn. My kids are partial to the maple hot dogs and maple cotton candy. You can also enjoy horse rides and walking trails if you want to get some fresh air. You can also schedule a tour in the off-season if you call ahead.

I have three words for you: maple ice cream! They also offer tours and samples. On top of all that, you can bring cross-country skis, snowshoes, or hiking boots to check out the trails. As an added bonus, leashed dogs are welcome on the trails.

Vermont Maple Outlet

Jeffersonville

If you want maple products, this is the place for you. There are so many options! My favorite product is maple pepper. You can use it on just about anything. They also have other Vermont gifts, such as cheese and smoked meats.
