My mother in law doesn’t know that Pinterest exists. I think someday soon I should introduce her, though, because she employs an ancient technique for keeping up with and sharing craft ideas-magazines and scissors. She gets the magazines at the thrift store, indiscriminate of season or year, scans the worthy craft or recipe, and emails them to me as a PDF, always upside down no less.
Here is a winning example.
Unfortunately, I’m unable to give proper credit to the originator of the craft. I can only assume it was in a Better Homes & Gardens between the years of 1972 and 2005 (newer editions are a rare find).
Spooky Spiders
You’ll need:
Styrofoam balls
Yarn
Pompom balls
Googly-eyes
Glue gun and/or modge podge
First, glue and wrap yarn around ball. The kids used their fingers and modge podge to cover the ball, then wrapped the yarn around the ball until it was covered.
Double over chunky black yarn or pipe cleaners to make 4 legs on each side. Glue a pompom as a head and add googly-eyes. Add a string to hang them and you are done-BOO!
I just did this this afternoon with Aden and some neighborhood friends. The end result was adorable!
