Having been a previous teacher before having my daughter and becoming a stay at home mom, I have a deep appreciation for the importance of art in a child’s life. I taught a particular method (the Charlotte Mason Method) that had a strong emphasis on the arts and helping children to develop a deep appreciation for artists as well as many different forms of artistic expression. I watched children who may have struggled academically truly flourish in the world of artistic expression!
When we moved to Burlington I was so excited about all of the different art studios and opportunities that were present for children to be able to take classes and grow in their artistic abilities. One of these places is found in the South End of Burlington; Davis Studio.
Davis Studios will be 10 years old at the end of this year and offers classes for preschoolers, home schoolers, after-school students, teens and adults. The studio began with Teresa Davis (the director) offering just one afternoon and one Saturday morning class for children. Since then, it has grown to 25-30 classes per week, 30 week-long summer camps with over 400 participating students, and over 20 part-time instructors! Their desire is to help each student find their individual “artistic voice”, and they specialize in supporting beginning artists of all ages. No experience necessary!
When I walked in to the studio space they were getting ready for one of their art receptions that take place at the end of a class series. The walls were filled with beautiful pieces of art completed by the students and ready to show to their parents and friends. I was blown away by the beauty and creativity all around me!
Davis Art Studios has many different classes for the young, budding artist such as painting, drawing and cartooning, fused glass, photography, acrylic painting, sewing, and graffiti art. Spring classes are currently running and their summer camps are filling up fast!

I would bring my children to the preschool art class and hope that it was a sculpture day…. something we don’t do at home. 🙂
Awesome! This would be so fun to do, and maybe get my little guy a little more interested in art, haha!
A fabulous creative outlet for young ones!! 🙂
