It’s that time of year again… berry picking! We love this summer activity and exploring the numerous options around Burlington!
Nothing screams summer more then strawberry shortcake made with fresh strawberries. Or what about a deliciously sweet blueberry muffin for breakfast? Here is a list of some of our favorite places to pick berries!
1. Sam Mazza’s
This farm located in Colchester, tends to be one of the more popular picking spots for families! They have fun festivals (like their Strawberry Festival happening this weekend and their Harvest Festival) and pick your own strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and pumpkins. Kiddos can also enjoy their small play structure for some additional fun! Strawberry picking is already underway.
2. Paul Mazzas Fruit and Vegetable Stand
With two farm stand locations, one in Essex the other in Colchester, they have pick your own strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. If you are in a rush, stop by the stand and purchase some fresh picked berries.
3. Charlotte Berry Farm
This berry farm in Charlotte has gorgeous views and pick your own strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and black raspberries. You can also enjoy their berry creemees which get rave reviews! Pick your own strawberries is open for the season!
4. Adam’s Berry Farm
Located in Charlotte, Vermont, this berry farm has certified organic strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and table grapes. Call ahead for a current schedule and what is available to pick. This farm is kid friendly and they have a fun sandbox area for the little ones to play in!
5. Isham Berry Farm
Isham farm, located in Williston has activities and products throughout the year. They have pick your own blueberries and raspberries beginning in July. Planning a wedding? Check out Isham farm as a potential venue.
6. Owl’s Head Blueberry Farm
Located in beautiful Richmond, this blueberry farm has live music most Tuesday and Thursday evenings during berry picking season. Blueberry picking begins the first few weeks of July.
7. Full Belly Farm (Formerly Norris Berry Farm)
This berry farm in Hinesburg (more like Monkton) offers pick your own berries, as well as delicious baked treats at their farm stand. Open for PYO strawberries now, with fresh baked biscuits at the farm stand for a quick and delicious strawberry shortcake!
8. Last Resort Berry Farm
This farm, located in Monkton, is certified organic and offers pick your own strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and mulberries. They also offer toddler rows which is a rule free area for kids to learn to pick at their own pace without parents worrying about them destroying the fruit. Call ahead for times and fruit availale.
9. River Berry Farm
This small vegetable and small fruit farm is located in Fairfax, VT and is open from the beginning of May through Halloween. With pick your own strawberries, as well as garden starts and pollinator plants, River Berry Farm is a great place to check out!
10. Covered Bridge Berry Patch
Located in Underhill Vermont, this blueberry farm is the quintessential Vermont postcard. With row upon row of delicious blueberries, you will have a hard time not filling another basket. With the river so close, its a welcome treat for your feet after filling your baskets with blueberries.
