Looking to add a little spice to your next date night? Do you have a love for cajun style food? Then you might just want to head on over to Applebee’s and try out their new dishes from their Bourbon Street Menu. My husband and I got to try out a few of these new dishes a few weeks ago on a long overdue date night.
The objective of this new menu was to bring NOLA’s unique flavors and food traditions to people across America (people who may otherwise never get to experience it). And since all of us in VT find ourselves quite a distance from New Orleans, I think we all would fit that category! A little background: Applebee’s Executive Chef Patrick Humphrey did his research. He came to New Orleans and met with Chef Kevin Vizard and shrimp boat captain Spencer Gonzalez to get some ideas and inspiration for the new menu. “By putting our twist on some of the best flavors of New Orleans, our new menu brings the taste of Bourbon Street to every neighborhood for everyone to enjoy,” said Chef Patrick.

There are several options to choose from such as the Creamy Cajun Steak & Shrimp: A blackened sirloin topped with Cajun shrimp and served with fried red potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, and pepper & onions. Finished with Applebee’s white win Andouille sauce, or the Shrimp Combo Platter: Blackened shrimp served over almond rice pilaf in an Herb & Ale scampi sauce and paired with crispy friend shrimp. Served with fresh, sautéed spinach and Roma red pepper relish on the side.
My husband and I both tried the Creamy Cajun Steak and Shrimp and really did enjoy it. It had a nice mix of flavors and satisfied our appetites.
We were also happy to see that our local Applebee’s carried some local beers on top, so my husband enjoyed a Switchback 🙂
We are truly blessed to have so many amazing local restaurants to choose from in the Burlington area, but if you are looking for a good meal with a kick, Applebee’s new menu is sure to please.
