Local Mom, Katie, is expecting her second child any day. We spent Sunday preparing for baby #2 by designing and organizing a shared bedroom for baby boy and big sister, Ella. Check back later to see the kids’ new room.
Once the room was complete, we moved to her car. All moms know about “baby brain.” For a few months we become forgetful due to new stresses and lack of sleep.
In the event of a forgotten item from home, we created “Car Kits” for each child.
Ella, age 4, requires less essentials. Her car kit contains:
- Change of Clothing – season appropriate
- Water Bottle
- Non-perishable snacks
- Toy Box: quiet toys like small figurines, crayons, notebook and a slinky
Connor, newborn, will have more needs based on his age. His car kit contains:
- Change of Clothing – season appropriate
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Pacifier
- Changing Pad
- Receiving Blanket
- Toy Box: quiet toys like board books, rattle and links
How It’s Made:
- Recycled wipe containers are used for the toy boxes.
- Sterile Boxes purchased from the dollar store will keep items dry and clean; they fit almost perfectly under the front seats in Katie’s vehicle.
- Each box is personalized with the children’s names and the toy boxes are embellished with polka dot decals from granitecitygraphics.com.
Bonus: Trash Container
A small flip-top snack container, purchased from the dollar store, is turned into a mini garbage for the car. Placed strategically behind the front passenger seat, both Mom and big sis can reach the trash.
The completed Car Kits give Katie one less thing to think about before her son is born. Simply Planned, LLC can work along side you, like Katie, to get you organized.
Make your own Car Kit or give as a gift to any parent or parent-to-be.

I love the decals! What a great idea… I’m always putting those extra wipes containers into recycling…
Thanks, Jen! I feel like there are so many possibilities with recycled wipes containers…kid’s craft storage, plastic grocery bags and games. Check out my Organization Pinterest board for more ideas.
