Make-A-Wish® America is an amazing national organization that grants “wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.”

Make A Wish’s mission is based on the belief that: “A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a life-threatening medical condition.

Since 1989 the Vermont Chapter of Make-A-Wish has granted more than 650 wishes for children throughout the state. In 2014 they will grant approximately 38 children’s wishes to local children.

Serving the entire state of Vermont, the chapter’s mission is to ensure that every child in Vermont who qualifies for Make-A-Wish is granted his or her one true wish. While wishes are referred and completed on an ongoing basis, an average of 40 wishes are in progress at anytime.

A volunteer Board of Directors and staff of three full-time and one part-time, together with volunteers, donors and medical professionals from throughout the state, make wish granting possible.

Make-A-Wish® America provides the Vermont chapter with technical assistance, training, national coordination and support; however, all funds required to grant wishes are raised entirely within Vermont.

Approximately 79% of every dollar contributed to Make-A-Wish Vermont is used directly to help grant wishes.

This percentage exceeds the standard upheld by organizations monitoring the work of charities.

For more information, call Make-A-Wish Vermont at 802.864.9393 or email them at at [email protected].

One of the several fundraising events that the Vermont Chapter puts on to raise funds for wish granting is the Walk for Wishes event taking place at Shelburne Museum on Saturday, September 14, 2014.

Walk For Wishes

The BurlingtonVT Moms Blog has joined the effort and created a team and will be out in full force on the 14th. Our Team name is “BurlingtonVT Moms Blog Wish Walkers.”

We are asking for your support!

We would love, love, love if you would follow this link:  http://www.firstgiving.com/team/274108 and join our fundraising efforts one of two ways. Either by joining our team and fundraising and walking with us or by donating on our page. As of 8/20/14 17 teams had raised almost $45,000, which is $20,000 away from the goal.

Are you up to the challenge?
