Meet Our Owner

Jemima Talbot

Jemima is a feminist, a dedicated and adventurous home cook, a cut-throat Scrabble player, a Pilates enthusiast, and a single mom to her August 2010 firecracker of a daughter. Jemima loves live music, storytelling, playing outside- especially in the water, trying new restaurants, and pretending to be a pioneer. She has a Master’s degree in Public Health and a professional background in sexual health and STDs. She is passionate about social justice, equity, and environmental justice, and is a member of her district’s school board.

Jemima has been with Vermont Mom since 2015 and is dedicated to supporting and encouraging Vermont moms. She loves working in a mutually beneficial way with local and national businesses. Contact her at Jemima {at} burlingtonvtmomsblog {dot} com

Previous Co-Owner: Kathleen

Kathleen is a long-time lover of all things powered by women. What better place to feed that passion than amongst a community of smart, powerful, charismatic moms? Not a native Vermonter, Kathleen is a flatlander from Ithaca, NY who came to Vermont from Mammoth, CA, and Seattle, WA. Upon returning to Vermont, Kathleen found her forever home in the Green Mountain State. Mother of two, a boy and a girl, Kathleen has found her love of bringing moms together while sharing stories, advice, and good and bad times. With a knack for making things happen, Kathleen has been creating special moments for families and friends since she was a child. Always opening a door and adding a place setting, she makes any group of individuals, especially women, do their best and be their best.

Previous Owners: Josilyn and Tasha

Josilyn and Tasha found being two-year owners of BVTMB to be an immense pleasure. They truly enjoyed the sense of community and friendship offered by the readers, writing and events teams, and business sponsors over the years. Stepping away from the blog was a difficult choice for both ladies, but they continue to love and support BVTMB.

Meet the Founders

The Founders: Nissa and Shannon

Nissa and Shannon met in 2012 and became fast friends. Both had recently moved to the Burlington area (although Shannon had grown up in Vermont) and were immediately bound together by a passion for their families and wanting to have a community to be a part of. They both discovered City Moms Blog Network through an old friend of Shannon, and started BurlingtonVT Moms Blog in October 2012 with a desire to connect moms to one another and remind them that they are not alone on this mothering journey.
